Pastor Emile Sempabwa was born in 1951. He is married, the father of several children, and a grandfather. He serves in pastoral ministry at Zion Temple Church, where he is devoted to spiritual teaching and the well-being of families.
01Pastoral Ministry
In 1996, he embarked on a profound spiritual journey that led him to a new birth in Jesus Christ. In 1998, he joined Zion Temple Church during its major evangelistic mission in Rwanda. He became actively involved in evangelism, biblical teaching, and marriage counseling before joining the church leadership team. He further pursued biblical and theological training through: • The Spiritual Growth Program • The International School of Ministry (ISOM), in California • Theological studies at Virginia University of Theology. In 2011, he and his wife were ordained into pastoral ministry. In 2014, he was commissioned alongside other pastors to help establish and develop the Zion Temple Kimironko Parish, where he continues to serve today as an advisor.
Public Health & MCH
Professionally, he is a specialist in Maternal and Child Health (MCH), public health, and research. He has more than fifty years of experience in the planning, implementation, and management of health programs across East Africa specially in Burundi and Rwanda. He has worked in the Ministries of Health of Burundi and Rwanda, as well as on projects supported by USAID with: • Howard University (AFRICAIRE) • University of North Carolina (PRIME II) • IntraHealth International (TWUBAKANE). These programs made significant contributions to strengthening Rwanda's health system, particularly through: • The expansion of the Community-Based Health Insurance Scheme (Mutuelle de Santé) • The development of the Community Health Worker (CHW) Program.
Consulting & Research
Since 2013, he has led a consulting firm specializing in research, health, and development. He has collaborated with several international organizations, including: • UNFPA • UNICEF • Palladium International. He continues to combine his professional expertise and pastoral calling in service to God and the community.
